San Pasqual Battlefield Site Location Project Board

The Project Board consists of the Project Leader, Historical Research Coordinator, Field Operations Coordinator, and Communications Coordinator.

PROJECT DIRECTOR-George Hruby

George Hruby, a local Historian, has studied and researched the Battle of San Pasqual since 1990, leading to discoveries about the battle never known before. His intense research on the battle has taken him across the United States including Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Indiana, and Pennsylvania. He has given lectures on the subject at the San Pasqual Battlefield Museum and for private organizations throughout San Diego County. He has received certificates of commendation for his research from such entities as the California State Parks and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

HISTORICAL RESEARCH COORDINATOR - Timothy F. Madigan

Timothy Madigan, a history major at Mesa College in San Diego, California, has been involved with the San Pasqual Battlefield as part of a Living History and Reenactment Group, portraying a 1st Sergeant of the famous 1st U.S. Dragoons, C Company, who fought at the battle. He has also participated in a Living History and Reenactment Group specializing in the Civil War. He is the former President of the Boosters of Old Town in San Diego, California and is currently a member of Westerners, San Diego Corral, the San Diego Historical Society, and the San Pasqual Battlefield Volunteers.

FIELD OPERATIONS COORDINATOR - Brian O'Connor

Brian O'Connor is a former Navy diver and National Park Service volunteer diver/researcher. He was heavily involved in the NPS underwater archaeological survey projects of the sunken battleships, U.S.S. ARIZONA and U.S.S. UTAH, and select sections of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. He was also part of joint research and survey projects in the Islands of Palau, and on Molokai, in the Hawaiian Islands. Additionally, Mr. O'Connor was a field agent/site researcher for Dr. E.R. Lewis, author of SEACOAST FORTIFICATIONS OF THE UNITED STATES , which covered many sites on Hawaii and the United States west coast.

COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR - Mike Pique

Mike Pique is a computer graphics researcher with a long interest in the visual display and analysis of scientific data. He studied at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, under Professor Frederick P. Brooks, and in 1986 joined the staff of The Scripps Research Institute where he serves as Director of Computer Graphics Development. He hopes, as part of the San Pasqual Battlefield Site Location Project, to learn how to communicate scholarly research and opinions to other researchers and to the interested public.
